About Kenneth Eiges and Eiges Law PC
Eiges Law PC focuses exclusively on prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, and related matrimonial counsel for clients throughout New York.
Kenneth Eiges brings more than 50 years of experience in divorce and matrimonial law to the drafting and negotiation of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. Over the course of his career, he has handled thousands of divorce matters involving negotiations, settlements, financial disputes, and trials.
That experience matters when drafting a prenuptial agreement. Kenneth has seen firsthand where agreements can create problems, where language can become ambiguous, and what financial issues are most likely to become disputed if a marriage ends. He brings that practical perspective to every agreement he prepares.
One Attorney. Start to Finish.
Kenneth Eiges personally handles every matter.
Clients do not meet with Kenneth and then have their agreement passed to an associate, paralegal, or other staff member. No other lawyer or staff member assists in drafting or negotiating the agreement. From the initial consultation through drafting, revisions, negotiations, and completion, clients deal directly with Kenneth.
Individually Drafted Agreements
Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements should reflect the people signing them.
Kenneth does not use a one-size-fits-all approach. Each agreement is prepared based on the client’s finances, assets, business interests, property, family circumstances, concerns, and objectives.
The process begins by identifying what the client actually wants the agreement to accomplish. Kenneth then considers the issues that could become important later—including separate and marital property, earnings, real estate, businesses, retirement assets, inheritances and trusts, maintenance, estate rights, and financial obligations—and addresses the provisions that are appropriate for that particular client.
Prenuptial Agreement Review and Independent Counsel
Eiges Law PC also represents clients who have been presented with a prenuptial agreement prepared by their future spouse’s attorney.
Kenneth reviews the agreement, explains what the provisions mean in practical terms, identifies provisions that may create problems or deserve further negotiation, and advises the client regarding proposed changes.
In some cases, revising an existing agreement can be more complicated than preparing a properly structured agreement from the beginning. Kenneth will discuss that with the client and recommend the approach that makes the most sense under the circumstances.
